The development of efficient and successful cryopreservation protocols for oocyte and ovarian tissue will have a major impact on clinical practice in reproductive medicine and will serve as a powerful tool to preserve fertility and biodiversity in domestic mammals. Our studies are focused on the development of strategies by the application of slow- and ultrarapid freezing techniques in animal models aimed to preserve the oocyte capability to develop after thawing.
